Description

“Abstract art is not the creation of another reality but the true vision of reality”

Piet Mondrian

Piet Mondrian is considered one of the greatest artists and one of the pioneers of 20th-century abstract art. His work influenced greatly not only abstract painting, but also architecture, fashion and design. He co-founded the De Stijl art movement with Theo van Doesburg.

To express the pure plastic art, or Neoplasticism, and create the ‘universal beauty’ that he was concerned with, he eventually limited his expressive vocabulary to the three primary colors (red, blue and yellow), the three primary values (black, white and gray) and the two primary directions (horizontal and vertical).

Bring neoplasticism into your interior design with this custom handmade rug from Piet Mondrian’s Broadway Boogie Woogie. You can have this artwork woven as a kilim or a Tibetan handknotted rug.

We will weave approx. 700 000 knots by hand to create this size in the smaller size.
