About Sabine Oecking

Sabine Oecking was born in Munich in 1965. Her father was already a painter, her mother is a goldsmith.

From an early age she developed her talent for drawing and design, but then decided on a completely different profession: the IT industry worldwide became her field of work.

At the peak of her career and as a successful businesswoman, she dropped out and has devoted herself to painting.

Sabine Oecking has developed her artistic skills with the Bad Reichenhall Art Academy, in particular from the renowned, internationally known Berlin painter Christian Awe. She also attended Professor Adam Jankowski’s master class.

She is a member of the Association of Visual Artists “BBK Westfalen e.V.”, the Dortmund and Munich art associations and Kun:st International.

Sabine Oecking Portrait

“My life motto ‘live wild and dangerous’ is also expressed in my pictures. I love playing with shapes and colors. I am curious and I continuously experiment.”

This is what she says about her art

I have been working on the topic of happiness for several years. For this I have developed a contemporary form of expression (Adam and Eve in the Garden of Eden are no longer contemporary as a symbol of happiness, and neither are the shepherd scenes a few hundred years later).

My favorite medium is spray paint, sometimes together with ink and acrylic. The pictures from the series “Happiness and Life” look like 3D, but are painted. Every tiny dot of color has a shadow – just like in real life.

I work with stencils. Just like we humans get up every day, comb our hair, brush our teeth, etc., stencils are always the same and yet there are tiny differences and variations every time.

The ordered and the disordered also appear like a parallel to life. The big picture as well as the detailed view are intended to arouse interest, both have their justification.

Small imperfections that I incorporate into each picture are like scars on people – they complete the beauty and guarantee uniqueness.

This has created a universal language of forms that depicts a special context “only” through color – a kind of universal language: the bright pictures in the series “Happiness and Life” are “prototypes” so to speak, the symbol both for happiness (colorful, happy, carefree, but also disordered) and for life (different areas of life, topics, Interests that affect each other, the view of the details as well as the big picture, orderly but also chaotic, connected by values, morals, relationships).

The red images in the series are associated with strength and energy and, in Asian countries, especially with happiness and prosperity, the black images seem to come from astrophysics and are reminiscent of space and the processes there, as recorded by Hubbel or other space telescopes.

With my images I want to invite you to be happy, convey a positive atmosphere to the viewer or at least offer the chance for a little positive break in difficult times.

If I can conjure a smile on the viewer’s face – even if only for a brief moment – then I have achieved my goal.
